Effeminate men became more attractive than masculine men after the pill was made available? Are we talking tall-dark-and-handsome masculine or marauding-blood-sex-thirsty-viking masculine?
I think we’re talking both marauding and handsome. :) Women are attracted to distinct characteristics in men at various points in their cycles. We find masculine, genetically different men desirable when we’re most fertile and prefer familiar more reliable traits at other times. I think the variance helps produce genetically strong children whose fathers stick around. Apparently women on the pill don’t describe a change in who or what they find sexy throughout their cycle.
